Background

The three storey house built on a sloping site at Swaffham Prior near Newmarket is constructed using two storeys of ThermoneX insulated Precast concrete walls and Structurally Insulated Panel System to provide room-in-the-roof for the architect-designed house.

Construction

Most of the walls to the lower floor were built in one working day. Precast floors were stitched to the walls before the first floor walls were placed. These were braced using a combination of steel and the timber roof structure

Modelling

Carl Dodd of ICD Dzine created a
3D model to be sure he had
captured his client's brief
before the building was
manufactured.

"The whole structure went up in
three weeks. It shows the
benefits of prefabrication. The
client was impressed by the
speed."
